CROWN PRINCESS VICTORIA
Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland, was born on July 14, 1977 at the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm.

Crown Princess Victoria is the eldest child of His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf and Her Majesty Queen Silvia. She has a brother, Prince Carl Philip, born on May 13, 1979 and a sister, Princess Madeleine, born on June 10, 1982. In accordance with the 1979 Act of Succession, which entered into force on January 1, 1980, the Crown Princess Victoria

is heir to the Swedish throne. The Crown Princess resides at Drottningholm Palace.

During the period 1982-84, Crown Princess Victoria attended the Västerled parish pre-school. In the autumn of 1984, she started school at Smedslättsskolan in Bromma, which she attended at junior level. For the intermediate level, the Crown Princess attended Ålstensskolan in Bromma and went on to senior studies at Enskilda Gymnasiet in Stockholm. The Crown Princess matriculated in June 1996. The Crown Princess followed a science and social studies programme at Enskilda Gymnasiet upper secondary school. She has also gained additional experience of speaking foreign languages during her summer holidays, for example in the United States and Germany.

Crown Princess Victoria was confirmed in the summer of 1992 at Räpplinge church on the island of Öland.

The Crown Princess has carried out two work experience programmes in Stockholm, one at the Royal Household Collections and one at the Museum of National Antiquities. Leisure pursuits, which the Crown Princess enjoys, include riding, skiing and other forms of outdoor life.

During the academic year of 1996/1997 the Crown Princess studied French at Centre International d Études Françaises, Université Catholique de l Ouest in Angers, France.

During the autumn of 1997 the Crown Princess followed a specially designed programme, the purpose of which was to give her a general insight into the workings of the Swedish Riksdag (parliament) and Government.

In the spring of 1998 the Crown Princess began taking academic courses at Yale University in the U.S.A. She took several classes within the subjects of political science and history up until the summer of 2000, when she returned to Sweden.

In connection with her stay in the U.S.A., the Crown Princess has also completed two trainee periods at the United Nations in New York (June and September 2000) and one at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C. (May 1999).

In the spring of 2001 the Crown Princess has studied and followed the Swedish presidency of the EU. During the autumn of 2001 the Crown Princess has followed a specially designed study programme at the Swedish Government.

In 2002 the Crown Princess followed a study programme at SIDA, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and followed the work at the Swedish Trade Council in Berlin and Paris. In 2003 the Crown Princess continued with her official engagements and followed a specially designed study programme at different company's in Sweden.

In 2004 the Crown Princess went on a state visit to Island and took part in officiall visits together with Swedish delegations to Saudi Arabia and Hungary a.o. She made visits to Swedish companies and continued with her officiall engagements.
