Prinsessan Madeleine to open Royal Palace on 6 June

Marshal of the Realm Ingemar Eliasson will be officially opening the Open Palace event on Saturday 6 June at 10.00 a .m, after which Princess Madeleine will be opening the south gates (at Slottsbacken) to the Royal Palace. The theme for this year is the Bicentenary 1809, to mark the 200th anniversary of the separation of Finland from Sweden.
With 60 programme items around the palace, Open Palace will be bigger than ever before this year. In the Hall of State, popular speakers including Christoffer O'Regan, John Chrispinsson and Herman Lindquist, will talk about the Bicentenary. In the Inner Courtyard, Manne the Clown will be providing entertainment for the children. Folk dancers will also be performing here as the Palace's summer café opens for the season.

In the Bernadotte Library, concert pianist Magnus Svensson will be performing, and the Karl XV Hall will be the venue for a talk by Lotta Günther from the National Property Board about restoration work on the Palace façade. On Slottsbacken, the Swedish Historical Vehicle Society will be displaying cars from the 1950s and 60s. The Royal Mews will be displaying Karl XV's parade coupé. In the Outer Courtyard, the Changing of the Guard with the Mounted Guard will take place at 12.20.

Come and celebrate Sweden's National Day at the Royal Palace!
